DfE announcement


The Secretary of State for Education has made a series of announcements under the banner: New action to improve outcomes for children with additional needs. This includes:

•        The launch of an externally led review of exclusions, led by former Children’s Minister Edward Timpson

•        A ‘roadmap’ setting out how the government will transform alternative provision

•        A £4 million Alternative Provision Innovation Fund

•        A call for evidence on how to improve educational outcomes for Children in Need

Sensory support service helpline for children, families and schools

Sensory Support Service Helpline is a Joint Authority Support for Children, Families and Schools

Supporting children and young people with Vision Impairment, Hearing Impairment or Multi-Sensory Impairment

For EY settings, educational settings including colleges, other professionals, organisations, families and CYP with Sensory Impairment (SI)

The Sensory Support Service has a helpline available to anyone who requires information and advice about meeting the needs of Children and Young People with Sensory Impairment.
