Support Bristol Parent Carers petition for Bristol City Council to fund Short Breaks Transport Scheme!

Short Breaks Transport Scheme

Dear parent carers, friends and support organisations,

The summer holiday's upon us! But we at BPC have not stopped trying to find more funding for our (beloved) Let's Go: Bristol! Short Breaks Transport Scheme that has helped so many families with SEND children access days out, short breaks and holidays for the last two years.

Yesterday we addressed the Place Scrutiny Panel (who fund Community Transport in Bristol) about our scheme, and we were very well received! In fact, they've asked for various reports and pieces of info to be circulated to every Bristol City Councillor!

Councillor Deb Joffe has invited us to the full Council meeting on Tuesday 21st July next week, where she will ask "Will the Mayor and Council work to find funds for this incredibly vital service?" and then let us deliver a statement with supporting signatures attached.

Here's What We Need You To Do Please...

ONE: We need your signatures!

If you are someone who:-

·  has a child/young person with SEND and has used the scheme

·  has a child/young person with SEND and would like to use the scheme in the future

·  thinks this scheme is a valuable and important way of supporting families with disabled children in Bristol

Please click here to sign this petition by Monday 20th July.

We don't have long to get all of this information together before Tuesday 21st July, so please, please don't put it off - sign the petition now!

TWO: Tell Everyone You Know...

Please share this petition with everyone you know by: email, Facebook and Twitter.

Let them know how important you think the Let's Go: Bristol! scheme is for children/young people (0-25 years) with SEND in Bristol. This is YOUR scheme for YOUR days out with YOUR families - it's time to make some noise!

THREE: Turn up on Tuesday Evening...

It would be brilliant if anyone who has a bit of time on Tuesday 21st July could come along to the evening Council meeting to show support in person. You're welcome to bring your children along, too. The Public Forum begins at 6pm, and you're welcome to leave as soon as we've done our turn - we'd love to see you there if you can make it! It's being held in the Passenger Shed, by Temple Meads Station and you don't have to stay for the whole meeting.

We're hoping our petition will go far and wide, but especially attract a lot of signatures to show how important it is to our families and our friends on Tuesday when we address the City Council - please help us!

Thanks very much for your support!
