North Somerset Support Group meeting 13th May 7-9pm The Firs Resource Centre, Drove Road WSM BS23 3NX

Our next Support group meeting will take place on 13th May 7.00 - 9.00 pm at The Firs Resource Centre, Drove Road, Weston Super Mare.

Maggie Dickinson, Senior Lead for Anti- Bullying, North Somerset will be joining us to talk about

Supporting learners with special educational needs and disability, at risk of bullying.

 Discussion areas

·         What are the particular needs and vulnerabilities of our children with special educational needs and disability?  

·         What is bullying and how best should we deal with incidents of bullying behaviour?

·         What good practice is seen  in schools and what can be developed to support and safeguard our children with special educational needs and disability ?

The session will share information and guidance from the current DfE initiative ‘ Reducing the impact of bullying on the well-being and achievement of pupils with SEND’- for further information see booklet.

CCG Meeting - Thank You

A 'huge' thank you to all the parents who attended last Thursdays CCG meeting and were willing to share their very difficult experiences. The information you provided to the CCG Commissioners was indeed very powerful and we look forward to the committment of the CCG to improve Children's Paediatric services in North Somerset and to include service users feedback in this process.

The latest revised Draft SEN Code of Practice is available to read and respond on line closing date 6th May 2014.
