Presentation available from North Somerset Support Group (Therapy Space)

Linda Plowden's presentation from the latest North Somerset Support Group is available to view or download here.

North Somerset Support Group Thursday 7th July at The Firs, St Barnabas Centre, West Hill, Portishead BS20 6LN, from 7 – 9 pm.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming Linda Plowden from Therapy Space at our next Support Group.

Linda’s aim is to help parents and families of children with difficulties (at home and/or school) understand their child’s behaviour from a sensory perspective rather than a behavioural one. Sensory Processing Disorder affects nearly every child who is struggling in life. She says ‘It is fascinating to unravel their problems as every child is different and unique and it is my pleasure to help you understand your own child who is precious and your main goal for them is to be happy.’

‘Many children will come to Therapy Space without diagnoses because they are struggling due to the following types of difficulties both at home and in school.

Handwriting, Co-ordination, Fine Motor Skills, Organisation, Listening, Attention, Behaviour, Communication, 1 in 10 children struggle with these typical problems.’

Linda has trained parents and staff on both sensory processing disorder and attachment difficulties, the training is excellent and the enlightens parents and staff on behaviours which are sensory based with many strategies given.

We do hope you will join us for what will be a very interesting and useful talk.

South Glos. Support Group Tuesday 17 May 7.30 - 9.00pm at Brimsham Green School BS37 7LB, Room 1 Supportive Education Unit

At this month's South Gloucestershire support group, we will be discussing tests, transfers, and support and finding out what works for you.  Many parents tell us they worry about how stressed some of their children are becoming about tests and exams in school.  Parents also often ask us for support with 'transfer reviews', so if you have questions about this, or the 'preparing for adulthood review', we hope you can come along.  Also, Kirsty Cottier, our new post-16 Co-ordinator, has a new responsibility to develop our service for young people age 16-25.  She is coming to the meeting to tell you more about her new role.  We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
