Social Communication & Autism Fayre, November 21st 2018

An informative health event for parents, carers, teachers and teaching assistants.  This is being jointly organised by North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together in association with Supportive Parents, Bridging the gap-together, Weston Area Health Trust and others.  Location: Hans Price Conference Centre, Weston College, Knightstone Campus, Lower Church Road, Weston-Super-Mare, BS23 2AL.  Times 10am – approx. 2pm.  Stay for the whole event or drop in any time.  For the programme click the poster to the left.

EHCP Annual Reviews - FREE North Somerset Workshop 5th October

This FREE workshop is aimed at parents of children with SEND and/or young people with SEND living in North Somerset, who have an Education Health and Care Plan. The workshop will cover how to prepare for an Annual Review, how to ensure your views are heard and what should happen both during and after the Review. In addition, there will be an opportunity to focus specifically on ‘Preparing for Adulthood’, with our SP16-25 Co-ordinator Kirstie Cottier. Spaces are limited to 20 people.

New Government Guide For Young People

The Government has released a guide called “When people can’t agree – Special Educational Needs and Disability Complaints: a guide for Young People in education”.

The guide for young people aged 16 to 25 is useful if you want to know who to talk to if you are unhappy with the help you are getting for your special educational needs or disability at school or college.

'What is an EHCP Needs Assessment?' - This is the subject of our FREE workshop on 21st September for parents/carers living in South Glos. It will be relevant if you/your school have submitted an application for an EHCP and you have now received the letter from the local authority stating that an assessment of your child's needs will now be undertaken.
