Mental Wellbeing in South Gloucestershire focus groups

The Care Forum are running a project for Public health and CCG re Mental Wellbeing in South Gloucestershire and South Glos Parents & Carers will be there also.

The Mental Wellbeing in South Gloucestershire project is holding 10 focus groups with people who have experienced issues such as low mood, anxiety, bereavement, postnatal depression and stress. The focus groups will listen to what has helped people manage their mental health, and what could help more. The focus groups will be with10 different groups of people, based around different life circumstances.

Booking is essential for the focus groups, as places are limited.

 The first two focus groups will be:

Parents of children under two - Yate (Cranleigh Court) Children's Centre, Tuesday 29 September 7-8.30pm (buffet included)

Parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities or additional needs - Emersons Green Village Hall, Thursday 8 October 10.30am-12 noon (followed by lunch)

The Mental Wellbeing in South Gloucestershire project will also have an online survey (available by mid-September) and will be recruiting Mental Wellbeing Champions. For more information W:

This Autumn's Parent Support Groups 

If your child has any kind of Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND), you are welcome to come along and meet our team.

We meet monthly so you can meet other parents, share your experiences/concerns and find out more about SEND. We also welcome interested professionals.

Tuesday 8th September - Portishead

Tuesday 15th September - Yate

Thursday 8th October - Portishead

Tuesday 20th October - Kingswood



Updated Fact Sheet: SEND Implementation and Transitional arrangements

In July Minister Edward Timpson announced that the Government will extend the maximum timescale for transferring individual statements into EHC  plans from 16 to 20 weeks, matching the timescale for new assessments. This will take effect from 1 September 2015. An updated "SEND implementation and transitional arrangements" fact sheet is now available here
