South Glos Support Group

Thank you all who came to support group last night, our discussions strayed far from moving on and moving up! We covered everything from priority access to boarding a 'plane to reasonable adjustments that enabled a highly anxious student to access education!

Who needs an EHC plan? Our new factsheet is online now

Who needs an EHC plan? Read our new resource for information tailored to you for Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire.

EHC, or Education, Health and Care Plans are for children and young people who have a special educational need or disability that cannot be met by the support that is available at their school or college.  Our online factsheet helps you decide if it would work for you and gives you links to information about what is available in your local authority area.

Supportive Parents’ Coffee Morning at Downend School, Monday 15 June, 2-3 pm

Supportive Parents is a charity providing the information, advice and support service to families of children with any type of Special Education Needs or Disability (SEND) in South Gloucestershire.

This coffee afternoon is for you to find out more about our service. If you have any questions about your child’s transfer to secondary school, just ask. We have an evening support group that meets monthly too.

What parents say about our support group:

“Not an evening has gone by without a giggle and something

to think about on the way home. Knowing the support is

 there is very reassuring”

So informative was really good tonight thanks

Bristol City Council and DisabledGo invites you to a consultation event to seek your views on a new access project for Bristol.

The DisabledGo project will provide in-depth access information for 1000 venues across Bristol including shops, restaurants, leisure centres, hotels, libraries, parks, museums, and many more which will be available as on online guide.

An access guide helps increase independence and choice for Disabled people. By providing detailed information on the access features of venues and public spaces Disabled people can make an informed judgment about the suitability of access.

They need Disabled people to help identify a range of places and spaces across Bristol to include in the access guide.

They are holding four consultations for Disabled people, parents of Disabled children, older people and carers giving them a perfect opportunity to contribute to the project. On Thursday 11th June British Sign language interpreters and PAs will be available.
