Bristol City Council and DisabledGo invites you to a consultation event to seek your views on a new access project for Bristol.

The DisabledGo project will provide in-depth access information for 1000 venues across Bristol including shops, restaurants, leisure centres, hotels, libraries, parks, museums, and many more which will be available as on online guide.

An access guide helps increase independence and choice for Disabled people. By providing detailed information on the access features of venues and public spaces Disabled people can make an informed judgment about the suitability of access.

They need Disabled people to help identify a range of places and spaces across Bristol to include in the access guide.

They are holding four consultations for Disabled people, parents of Disabled children, older people and carers giving them a perfect opportunity to contribute to the project. On Thursday 11th June British Sign language interpreters and PAs will be available.

Focus on access to children's/young people's community paediatric and hospital services - Join our Weston Parent Support Group on 9 June

We hope you will join us at our next support group meeting which will be held on Tuesday 9th June 7 - 9 pm at The Firs, Drove Road, Weston Super Mare BS23 3NX

Tamar Sutton from Healthwatch North Somerset will be coming along to ask you for your experiences of using Bristol hospital services  for your children and young people.  In addition we will be asking for further feedback regarding North Somerset Community Paediatric Services. Following work carried out with the CCG last year around concerns parents were having in accessing services and diagnostic assessments we would like to know if parents have experienced improvements in these areas. We have also been in contact with CAMHS who are currently looking at ways to develop their service to reach more people in a more user friendly way, to achieve this they are hoping to engage with parents and children and young people, and we shall have some further information about this.

Thank you - Kingswood Support Group

Thank you to all the parents who contributed last night to our discussion about anxiety based school refusal, its impact on attendance, and the variety of responses you get when you ask for help.

Kingswood Parent Support Group meets Tuesday 19 May

What is your child's experience of accessing help if they
are worried about going to school, if they are so anxious that it is
affecting their attendance.

Is it all about the exams or the SATs? What is school doing to help? What help are you getting from your GP?

Kirtsy and Kathryn look forward to welcoming you to Kingswood on
Tuesday from 7.30 'til 9.00 p.m. in the Children's Centre. This is in
the building behind "The Park" complex, on Hollow Road. You can park on
the road or there is some limited parking in the children's centre carpark.

We will be looking at what help is available and sharing ideas. If specific concerns come up, we will feed these back to the local authority and health.

We hope you can join us.

If you would like to check anything out 1:1, Kirsty will be able to offer some time on a first come, first served basis.

Best wishes

Kathryn & Kirsty

Portishead Support Group Success

A big thank you to Mandy Stopard who came to our support group last night to talk with parents about children's behaviour, and thank you to all the parents who attended (over 30 of you). Many gave a brilliant talk providing us with some excellent strategies and ideas that we hope parents will find helpful. A happy and peaceful weekend to all!
