The Children and Families Act was given royal assent today.

This Act brings changes to the law to give: greater protection to vulnerable children, better support for children whose parents are separating, a new system to help children with special educational needs and disabilities, and help for parents to balance work and family life. North Somerset Support Group - 18th March 7-9pm at Yeo Valley Children's Centre Congresbury, BS49 5DX 

Adam Burley from Burley Inclusive will be joining us. Adam is a regional tutor for the Makaton charity. He will be providing a taster Makaton session aimed to inform parents and carers. The Makaton communication program is comprised of hand signing and picture symbols that are used to support communication development for children and young people/adults with learning disabilities. Burley Inclusive is a learning disability tutoring service working with learners in their own homes, communities and work placements to develop skills and person centred strategies for further independence. They also provide training for parents and carers. More information can be found at www.burleyinclusive.co.uk and www.makaton.org.
