The Local Offer

Every local authority must publish a Local Offer. The Local Offer tells you what support the local authority expects to be available for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities. It must include information about education, health and care provision. It should also tell you about training, employment and independent living for young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

North Somerset Children's Centres - Providing support and care for the under fives

The Firs Resource Centre - The Firs Resource Centre is in Drove Road, Weston-s-Mare and at Portishead Children's Centre, Portishead. It manages a range of out of school and daycare provision such as specialist playschemes in Weston and Portishead, a variety of outings thoughout the year based on age, ability and friendship groups.

 

Citizens Advice Bureau - Providing independent, free, impartial and confidential advice on a range of issues including benefits, debt, employment, housing and consumer problems. Face-to-face sessions are held in Weston-super-Mare, Nailsea, Portishead, Clevedon and Pill. Telephone advice line available.

North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together (NSPCWT) is the contact point and strategic partner for Local Authority and Health requests for co-production and parent carer participation in any work streams relating to children and young people (0-25 years) with disabilities and/or additional needs.

NSPCWT aim to provide opportunities for parent carers to influence the decisions that affect their families and to contribute to developing services that improving services of their families, by working in partnership with the Local Authority, Health and all other relevant groups and organisations.

 

Somerset Parent Carer Forum - Somerset Parent Carer Forum invites all parent carers to become members of their forum and join together with existing parent carers to share information, views and experiences of the children’s and young people’s services (0-25 yrs) they already use or would like to use in the future.

Springboard Opportunity Group - Springboard supports children with additional needs from birth to 5 years and their families, in North Somerset. It was started by a small group of local parents in 1986 who desperately needed help with their very young children.
