Local Area IAS Practitioner – North Somerset

We’re looking for an IAS Practitioner to join our North Somerset team.

If you have knowledge or experience of Special Educational Needs or Disability (SEND) and can work effectively with children, young people and families, we’d like to hear from you.

This role involves responding to calls to our helpline or emails from parents, carers and young people. You will also provide support by holding face-to-face meetings when required. Queries and concerns are typically from parents trying to understand how to get the support their children need at school.

You will advise on special educational needs processes and procedures, inform parents of their rights, signpost them to further sources of information and support, or meet them face-to-face to guide them through paperwork. You will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to deal confidently and professionally with a wide range of people.

The role will involve travelling within North Somerset.

Fully accredited training will be provided. IPSEA Level 3 legal training must be
completed within 12 months of joining the organisation. Role subject to a DBS check.

Salary: £22,021 (Bristol NJC point 12), per annum, pro rata, all year round while completing IPSEA Level 3
legal training, then £22,462 – £23,836 (NJC points 13 – 16).

Hours: 18 hours a week all year round, mostly worked over term time.  Core hours are 9.30am – 2.30pm
on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with flexibility to work some Wednesdays, evenings and weekends as
required.

Location: Central Bristol office (and in the local area on completion of training).

Closing date for applications: 5pm Friday 31st January

Interview date: Tuesday 11th February
